How Dental Bridges Are Created to Restore Your Lost Teeth
If you have lost teeth, you may be considering all of your replacement options, including dental bridges. Our dental bridges are created to restore your teeth in both a functional aspect and an attractive way.
What are dental bridges?
They are made up of a false tooth or teeth that sit in your dental gap and are anchored in place by crowns that cover two of the teeth on either side of the gap. These teeth are referred to as abutment teeth and hold the false tooth securely in place. A dental bridge is one of the permanent dental replacement options we offer.
Why should I get a dental bridge?
Dental bridges are important because they restore your smile in addition to allowing you to eat and speak properly. They can also help to maintain your facial and dental structure. They protect your surrounding teeth by evening out bite force so that other teeth don't wear down or drift out of place.
How are dental bridges made and placed?
After we examine your dental structure to make sure there are no underlying structural issues or damages that need to be fixed, we will begin preparing your mouth for your dental bridge. We will start by readying your abutment teeth. We may have to perform some small reshaping to allow space for your crowns to sit securely and attractively. We will then make an impression of your gums and surrounding teeth. This impression will be used to help form a bridge replacement that will fit in place securely. At this time, we will most likely send you home with a temporary bridge while your customized one is being created.
When your bridge is completed, you will come back into our office for a fitting and adjustment period. We will check to make sure it fits in place perfectly and will work functionally. If you have chosen a fixed bridge, our permanent option, we will then cement it into place once all adjustments are made.
What should I expect after my dental bridge is placed?
You may want to eat softer foods when your dental bridge is first worn since you will not be used to how it feels. Eventually, you can eat any foods as long as common sense is used. With time, dental bridges make it easier to eat than it was without teeth. You may have to get accustomed to speaking with your dental bridge in depending on how long you have not had teeth. Dental bridges should actually make speaking easier because they will act as your former teeth did for pronouncing words.
How do I care for my dental bridge?
Caring for dental bridges is easy. Just brush and floss faithfully to ensure no cavities develop near your abutment teeth and in your entire dental structure.
The process of obtaining dental bridges is actually rather simple and convenient. If you are in need of dental replacements, our bridges are a functional, permanent, and attractive option.
